During my time at the library, I checked out a book on the history of Ethiopia to find out about Haile Selassie, the last emperor of the country. When my father's family lived in Ethiopia in 1971, my grandfather Ted, knew Haile. From the book I checked out at the library, I learned that Haile Selassie means "Power of the Trinity", his original name was Tafari Makonnen. Haile stood at 5 feet 4 inches but had a strong and dignified presence. He modernized the country in several ways by introducing a constitution, a two-house parliament, and a court system (Heinrichs 38.) Selassie was quite the leader and I thought it was pretty amazing that my grandfather had a relationship with him.
